This Privacy Policy applies to the JKeCOP mobile application ("Application") developed by the Jammu & Kashmir Police Department for use by citizens of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. By downloading, registering, and using the Application, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

When you use the Application, certain information is collected automatically, which may include:

Mobile Internet browser type

App usage statistics and crash logs

1.3 Website Usage Information

If you access JKeCOP services through the CCTNS web portal, the system may automatically capture general technical information such as:

Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and domain name

Browser type and operating system

Date and time of the visit

Pages visited within the portal

We do not attempt to link this technical information to the identity of individual visitors unless an attempt to damage or misuse the system has been detected.

2. Location Information

The Application does not collect precise real-time location information from your mobile device unless you explicitly grant location permissions for specific features that require it (such as locating the nearest police station). Any such permission can be revoked at any time through your device settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

The information collected is used to:

Provide, maintain, and improve Application features and services

Process and respond to complaints and grievances submitted by citizens

Send important notices, service updates, and alerts

Monitor Application performance and diagnose technical issues

Ensure the security and integrity of the Application and CCTNS infrastructure

4. Sharing of Information

To investigate fraud or respond to lawful requests by law enforcement agencies

To trusted service providers working on our behalf, who are contractually prohibited from using the information for independent purposes

5. Data Retention and Deletion

User-Provided data will be retained for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable period thereafter. Automatically Collected Information may be retained for up to 24 months, after which it may be stored in aggregated, anonymized form.

How to Delete Your Data: You can delete your account and all associated personal data at any time by navigating to Profile → Delete Account within the Application. Once confirmed, your personal data will be permanently deleted from our servers and cannot be recovered. For assistance, please contact us at the email address provided in Section 9.

6. Opt-Out Rights

You may stop all collection of information by uninstalling the Application using the standard uninstall process available on your mobile device. This will not affect any data already collected prior to uninstallation.

7. Children's Privacy

The Application is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will promptly delete it from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us immediately.

8. Security

We take reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Access to personal information is restricted to authorized personnel who require it to operate or improve the Application and related services. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be reflected by updating this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the Application following any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this Policy regularly.

By using the JKeCOP Application, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in this Privacy Policy, as it may be amended from time to time.
